Relief/Locum Services:

I have provided high-quality relief (locum) services for over a hundred practices during the past decade. My focus is on preventative medicine, and I emphasize client education. I believe that successful veterinarians need two strong skill sets: the first being the ability to practice good medicine, and the second, the ability to clearly explain to owners the rationale behind our medical recommendations, so that they understand why they should spend the money that allows us to practice that good medicine.

I am happy to treat dogs, cats and companion exotic pets (especially reptiles ---please see my resumé for details on my exotics background). I am quite comfortable performing routine soft tissue surgeries, but do not perform cosmetic ear crops, tail docks, or declaws. I favor the American Feline Practitioners vaccine recommendations (now advocated by the AVMA).

I have experience with a variety of "Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine" modalities, and seek to practice "Integrative Medicine," combining 'conventional' western medicine with nutrition, nutraceutical supplements, acupuncture and traditional chinese herbs. I believe the best medicine uses all the tools that most effectively restore and maintain health, and I am happy to be able to offer a wider variety of treatment options for those clients that desire them.

I prefer to establish long-lasting relationships with like-minded practices, and will endeavor to fulfill your relief needs whether you require coverage for a single day, a 2 week vacation, or for a 3 month maternity leave. I hold my own PLIT insurance and DEA license.
